Last week when the Seattle weather finally cleared up, I was able to photograph Mike and Tara’s engagement session.
We started off meeting for lunch at Azul in the Mill Creek Town Center. I enjoying meeting clients for lunch because it is a great way to break the ice and get to know more about them.  We went to one of their friends barns out in Snohomish County.  The sun was shining and we were able to get some amazing shots, not only using the barn but the fences and surrounding areas.

Here is a slideshow of the session also. I love putting together slideshows of photos, especially with music as it adds emotion.

Join me at Something Blue on Saturday September 26th 10am-4pm.
emmajane photography was invited to be a vendor for this boutique bridal show.  Stop by and say hello!

I always say how much fun I have with my clients and I honestly don’t say that to say it. So when I say that I had so much fun at Matt and Dana’s wedding it is true. I met the last year when we did their engagement session at Bothell Landing
Here are a few from that session

When Matt and Dana booked me last year for their August wedding this year, I was thrilled. I really believe that once you develop a good relationship with clients its so much more fun to work together. You almost feel like friends vs a photographer taking photos of a client. Their wedding August 8th 2009, was at Whispering Firs Lodge in Mount Vernon. From cupcakes to cigars this wedding was down to earth, fun and full of surprises… cupcake in the face Matt?
Here are some images from the wedding.

Last week I met an amazing couple Erin and Roy and they booked me for their August 15th wedding at the Inglewood Country Club in Kenmore, WA.   Yes usually couples book in advance of upwards to a year but due to some circumstances they found themselves looking for a photographer very last minute.  Luckily Erin and Roy were at Paper Fling in Country Village in Bothell and came across my business card that I had left during an open house 2 weeks prior.  They gave me a call and we met and clicked right away.   I always explain to my clients how important it is that you are able to connect with your vendors.
With my collection I offer engagement sessions and due to the timing of this and the fact they had previously had a session, we were going to opt out and do a future session instead.  However Erin really wanted sign photos for her wedding so we decided to go ahead and meet and have a session so we could these done for her.

Sunday we met at Calabria in Kirkland.  A fantastic Italian restaurant that I had heard about but never gone to. ( I can assure you I will be going back).  We had dinner and drinks ( well i had a glass of wine because I don’t drink and shoot).  After we went to the Kirkland waterfront and took some photos a little before sunset!   We had an amazing time.  Really it was like hanging out with friends ( Josh my husband and assistant came and he worked with some of Roy’s friends and family before.. small world).

I honestly can not tell you how much I am looking forward to the wedding and what a wonderful couple Erin and Roy are.

Here are the photos to prove it!

I cant even begin to tell you how happy I am to be shooting Patrick and Jessica’s wedding next year.  First of all, Jessica is one of the sweetest people I have known and she deserves the happiness and love that Patrick gives her and her son Kaleb.  I met Jessica early last year when I took photos of Kaleb ( what a cutie) and she has become a regular client of mine.
It is important to me to spend time with my clients before the wedding be it during consultations, or during a session such as this, because being comfortable with your clients and vice versa is so important on the wedding day.  I’m not at the wedding doing a job, I’m documenting the memories and moments of 2 very special people.  Now that I know Jessica so well, I have no problem posing her on her head or in a field of spinach ( just kidding) (maybe).

I am in the process of desgining Jessica and Patrick’s guest book which they will use at their wedding.  Its wonderful for friends and family to share their thoughts and advice on that special day and the guest book with photos from their engagement session is a perfect way to do that.

We chose University of Washington for our locations.    There are just so many different areas on the UW campus that the possibilities for different shots were endless.  From the trees and the sprawling greens, to the architecture of the school buildings, we felt it was just an inspiring location.

Here a few of the photos from our session!

OSP West!

April 20, 2009

I just got home from an AMAZING weekend in Seattle. Open Source Photo had a meet-up for its West Coast members ( or anyone who wanted to fly out here). The organizers set up a weekend chalk full of the most amazing speakers and arranged some fantastic shoots for us.
I was able to hear:
Mike Larson
Jim Garner
Gene Higa
Ken Sklute
and
Kevin Swan

If you haven’t heard of these guys, they are all AMAZING photographers, top 10 wedding photographers even!
Learning and expanding my knowledge base is always something I enjoy doing and I really took it all in. I actually feel that I will be putting the things I learned into action in the next few weeks. I was really inspired.
I also met some amazing photographers from the area, as well as down the Coast. Its great to meet people that you respect that you work with, as well as up and coming photographers just starting out.

I was very spoiled because the event was held at Hotel 1000. I had suggested this to the organizers and also talked to the marketing director. I felt it would be the perfect location and I am so glad it worked out. I was spoiled because Josh ( my husband) works there as a Manager and everyone took extra special care of me.

Here are just a few photos I have proofed so far. I plan to do some extra special things with them so keep checking back!
